Thank You, Joe Rogue

First off, I want to give a big thanks to Joe Rogue for sparking important conversations on his platform. It’s always a pleasure to hear new takes and perspectives, but one thing that stands out to me is how poorly the crypto community explains itself. As someone deep in this space, I completely agree with a lot of the confusion surrounding it.

One of my biggest frustrations? We keep calling it “cryptocurrency.” The term itself is misleading. What we’re really talking about is Web3—a new layer of the internet, just like the websites and social platforms we use today. For instance, the NFT avatar I’m using right now, Ryoshi VIP #3540, isn’t a currency. It’s a digital asset, a part of this new internet layer, and you happen to need tokens like Fortune (FRTN) or Cronos (CRO) to acquire it. But the point isn’t the currency; it’s the technology behind it that’s evolving.

This brings me to my website, philltech.net. I’ve now linked it as an off-chain NFT, meaning I can receive NFTs, stablecoins, or any cryptocurrency that supports Ethereum Name Service (ENS). To put it simply, this website you’re visiting? It’s my “real-world” asset, but it exists in the digital realm of Ethereum—a layer of the internet. The owner of this site exists on the Ethereum network, demonstrating how the lines between the physical and digital are blending.

So, Joe, and to anyone reading this, my hope is that we start explaining things better. This isn’t just about “currency”—it’s about a new dimension of the internet. Web3 is here to stay, and I’m excited to help others understand its potential.

Stay tuned for more as I continue bridging the gap between Web3 and our everyday experiences.
